Katarina Gubanova aka Miss Key- “Replays By Miss Key #1” Album Review (metal/classical)

Replays By Miss Key #1

We here are all about stepping outside of boundaries and love covering those who do the same.  So today’s offering is no exception.  Independent German artist Katarina Gubanova has recently released a new digital-only EP, Replays by Miss Key #1 ; an album of cover songs originally done by metal bands – Arch Enemy, Satyricon, Amon Amarth, Volbeat and Slipknot.

From Grand Sounds PR:  “Relaxing and melancholic, my music depicts a palette of colorful emotions, fantasies and stories.  I like to transform beauty that surrounds us into music. But more than that I like challenges. So for this album of covers, I chose compositions that could hardly fit the profile of piano music. It was a hard  task, but I am very happy with the result.”f92f3470-8985-48af-a495-c3589b0990be

A challenge this must have been indeed; that is, covering artists who on the surface seem worlds apart from modern piano/classical music.  But she does so with the help only of a solo piano.  Every track is pretty nice but the Arch Enemy cover is bloody amazing. It further leaves one wondering how much time she must have spent on working on these interpretations.

There’s really not much more that needs to be said on this release.  It’s a great step outside of the norm and we’re looking very forward to seeing what she does next.

Fantastic skill and interpretation…..
