Hailing from Los Angeles is the highly-original outfit Pressure Vessel who have just released their digital-only album, Ligature.
8 tracks make up the release. Pressure Vessel allows the music to speak for itself without vocals or the contextual pollution of lyrics. The foundations of tracks like “Spleen” or “Oblivion” touch a bit on the feel of early 90s’ electro-industrial. But I think where Pressure Vessel actually shine is in the nuances that grace the structures of these 8 cuts. There’s a definite mindfulness of immediacy vs. vastness and a freedom vs. being closed in. I guess it stands to reason considering the project name.
Pressure Vessel is like a the bastard son born of a weekend romp in Germany between Nitzer Ebb and Laibach. It’s like being guided by a nightmare train with disturbing and pleasant visions weaving in and out.
Great stuff. Looking forward to seeing what Pressure Vessel comes up with next.
